The Gary Fire & Rescue Volunteer Department is comprised of volunteers from the community. We are a group who willingly put their lives on the line to assist a neighbor in their time of need. Our volunteers are with people at their most vulnerable times - fire, accidents, natural disasters and more. We do not take that responsibility lightly and strive to treat each situation and
person with the same respect we would give our own families.
After all, Gary is one big family and each member is equally important.
Our Mission
The mission of the Gary Fire Department is to improve the quality of life within the city and surrounding region of Gary, by providing a high quality emergency fire, rescue and emergency medical service, an excellent fire prevention program, with a fire fighting force capable of handling emergencies which may include structural fire fighting, all types of rescues, and miscellaneous emergencies and catastrophes.

The Gary Volunteer Fire & Rescue department accomplish this mission while striving to maintain a high regard for the safety and health of our personnel by maintaining fire department facilities and apparatus, continually training our volunteer force and continuing to interact professionally with other city departments and divisions as needed in our community to work toward a common purpose; the safety and health of our citizens.

DEPARTMENTGARY FIRE & RESCUE BREAKS GROUND ON A
FIRE & RESCUE BUILDING FUNRAISER PROJECT
After a couple of city council meetings and a city wide meeting, we are seeing progress toward a new Fire & Rescue building for Gary MN. In addition to the Fire & Rescue departments, the new building will house the Gary City Offices.
